And don't tell me you haven't heard of VEELA.
Oh yeah, they're those lovely looking women who will tempt just about any man if he's not careful, but you best be careful not to get on their bad side, trust us. They're very closely related to faeries or nymphs, and in fact are referred to as forest nymphs or guardians a lot of the time.
How do they come about? Its a bit of a mystery really. Are they conceived? Do they just suddenly... exist? The story goes that a Veela is born or created when a young virgin woman dies on the day of her wedding, before her wedding night. Whether this is true or not is unknown, but these beauties could certainly be the type to carry within them the hearts or souls of women who were scorned by life and taken before their time. They don't exactly function on a human level of thinking a lot of the time -- at least the wild or newborn ones don't. There is also no definitely length of lifespan, though there are a few recorded who have lived for several centuries or so.
So let's talk about generals: they're beautiful women who have their own magic which doesn't require a wand, are very alluring, and have soft lovely voices that can hypnotise a man with a song, and have been known to lure men to dance with them until death. They are known to morph into swans, snakes, horses, or wolves, and they are fierce warriors. These girls also have a temper on them too, which makes them go from beautiful seductress, to hella scary harpy lady. They literally will turn into a bird-like humanoid, with sharp talons and feathers and scary beaks. If their anger is controlled, then they might only change slightly, like their hands become claws or something, but when they lose it... hooo boy. Along with that neat trick, they have a tendency to turn 'flame on', and summon fire, which they like to throw at people who might have stoked their ire.
There are other attributes to the Veela, along with those already mentioned. They have healing and prophetic powers which they may use to help humans on occasion, depending on how they're feeling at the time. There are also rumours/tales that state that if a hair of a Veela is plucked and stolen then she will die (though naturally shed hair can be used without harming them), or that if one manages to pluck a feather from her arm then they will gain control of her. They also enjoy storms, so be careful of beautiful women who you might find dancing outside in the middle of a thunderstorm.
Veela are able to reproduce with magical or non-magical human men (fancy that!) and the result is not a pure Veela, but a half or part-Veela. Females may inherit some things from their mother, like a natural allure, and occasionally might even inherit the ability to weild flame to a degree. Part-Veela children are not immortal/ageless like their Veela mother, tending to age more along the line of their father, if maybe a little slower (and if the father is a wizard, the children will have magical ability).
Extra strength and other hidden talents aside, Veela would be as easy to take down with any sharp object or blunt trauma as most people. They are not immortal, and are not immune to injury, they're just a bit scary is all.
So beware beautiful women! They might just be a Veela waiting to take you for a fun ride, or on a scary rollercoaster.
