How Classes Are Played
One of the most fun parts of being on a wizarding school roleplay is the classes! Tallygarunga includes not only the standard Potterverse classes that you'd expect to find at Hogwarts, but also a few variations added by members over the years.Class schedule
Here's how we play out our classes.
Teaching staff are expected to conduct at least one class per term.Classes and year levels
This amounts to four class threads over a year, and they may choose to do more. The current term is listed in the header, and dates for all terms for the 2018 school year can be found in the Studying at Tallygarunga topic.
Unless there is sufficient demand for a class, classes may be considered "mixed-year". This means that all students enrolled in that class can participate in the one class thread.Enrollments
Teaching staff that are willing to run more than a single thread per term may divide their class load any way they like.
Enrollments take place in the Gawler Foyer, and are submitted using the Class Enrollment Form. Enrollments must be submitted before taking part in a class thread.Non-played classes
Classes that do not have a character assigned to teach the class are considered "non-played classes". Students can still enroll in these classes, and it is assumed that these classes still take place---but are not explicitly roleplayed in the same manner as played classes are.Homework & house points
Classes are a key source of house points. Teaching staff may choose to allocate homework (usually a short response to a question submitted through the class thread), and to award or revoke house points throughout the progress of the class thread. Some common house point transactions:
Points per class thread will be tallied up at the end of term (all class threads must be completed and homework submitted by the end of term date) and added to the totals. Note: A player that has an active absence cannot be penalised for their character not attending class, or not submitting homework.
